Studio

I manage all aspects of my digital life from my fully-equipped home studio, pictured below. The centerpiece of my studio is a cutting-edge Dell Precision workstation with all the associated hardware and software needed to create and export broadcast-quality TV programs in 4K. A system like this can also chew through large graphic files, 2D animations, audio files, etc. with ease. Fun fact: From the studs in the walls to the hard drives in the case, I designed, configured and installed it all myself.

If I was asked to assess my software skills, this is what I’d say: I’m advanced-or-better using most Adobe Creative Cloud apps, especially as it pertains to the “Big Three” – After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. And I’m expert-level using Avid Media Composer. After 25 years on the job, working in the Avid interface is all muscle memory at this point, which allows me to focus purely on creativity and storytelling. My workstation’s most important, most used apps are pictured below.

Although I’ve worked in many, many edit suites over the years, I am most comfortable, most creative and most productive working in my home studio. I’ve published content and distributed worldwide from this suite, so working remotely is something that I am used to and thrive in. I might also mention that I am very detail oriented and excellent at making repeatable templates, devising workflows, file sharing, etc. for maximum efficiency and uniformity.

What’s the bottom line? Currently, I’m looking for new opportunities to use my skills and array of tools to create dynamic content for clients who share my appetite for originality. I have no shortage of ideas, creativity or vision. No lack of desire, skill or passion. I’m just doing what I was meant to do. And it feels good.
